The humble gin block or gin wheel as it is otherwise known is one of the simplest rigging and hoisting supply tools. Variations of the gin wheel have been used for generations in some form or other. Today the gin wheel or gin block is used by farmers, window cleaners, builders, DIY enthusiasts and even children in tree houses.
Gin blocks or gin wheels work in a very simple way. Secure the gin wheel to an elevated point using the green shackle at the top. Gin wheels are often secured on the side of scaffolding for example. Then pass a rope through the wheel. Blue polypropylene rope is most commonly used for this task. Make sure the rope is long enough to touch the ground, come through the gin wheel and touch the ground on the other side. Tie one end of the rope onto the load to be lifted, for example a bucket of water. Now somebody standing on the ground can pull the other end of the rope and hoist the bucket of water up.
The braked pulley is also used for lifting and lowering loads. The pulley is equipped with a mechanism for braking the load if the operator who lifts the load releases the rope. A snap hook is fitted at the top to allow for easy anchoring to any anchoring point suitable for both withstanding the load to be lifted by the braked gin block, and the braked gin block itself. The braked pulley is not a piece of rescue equipment, and should not be used for lifting people or any rescue purposes. Before purchasing, please read through the specification sheet.

Please find our delivery information outlined below. We currently offer delivery options to the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland only.
We deliver anywhere in Ireland and Northern Ireland for €19.99 up to 30kg.
Free Delivery
Orders over €100 to anywhere in Ireland are delivered FREE of charge.
Orders are dispatched on the next working day after the order has been placed, and you should receive your order within 2-5 working days. In the unlikely event that an item you have ordered is out of stock, we will notify you immediately to inform you of any possible delays.
Please check the contents of your package on arrival. Should any items be damaged during shipment, it is important that you notify us upon opening the package. In the event of damage, please keep all packaging materials from the shipment.
